Its a great news for the Eddie Marphy fans that he is well alive. Internet has spread a report on Friday February 3 declaring the actor dead after a car crash in Australia. However Eddie Murphy did not die despite what a celebrity death hoax generator website claimed.

The 50-year-old actor and comedian was the victim of a death rumor was circulated on a site called Global Associated News which claimed he died after a snowboarding accident in Zermatt, Switzerland.

However, a disclaimer at the bottom of the page in small print reads, "THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! This is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! This story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual."

The disclaimer didn't stop people from Tweeting the news and sharing it on Facebook which might have forced the star's to issue a statement.

"Trust me, Eddie is very much alive and well and definitely not in Switzerland snowboarding," Murphy's rep told E! News." The "Beverly Hills Cop" star's brother also confirms Murphy is alive and well.

In September, it was announced that Murphy would host the 84th annual Academy Awards, but he dropped out in November and was subsequently replaced by Billy Crystal. It will be Crystal's ninth time as host of the ceremony, which is set to air live on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company.
