The 23-year-old American Model Vanessa Hessler has been fired by a major telecommunications company, which featured her as a sexy spokesmodel, after defending the family of late Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi. The Italian-American ex-girlfriend of Mutassim Gaddafi has been dismissed from her lucrative role as the face of a international telecommunications company for speaking about her passionate love affair with the Libyan dictator's son.
Hessler had once dated Gadhafi's son, Mutassim, and recently told the Italian magazine Diva e Donna that the Gadhafi family members are "not as they have been described" and were "normal people." The model-turned-actress also said she was crying for Libya, adding that the rebels are "people who don't know what they're doing".
"Vanessa Hessler has failed to distance herself from her comments on the conflict in Libya," said a company spokesman Albert Fetsch. Hessler had been the company's advertising face for years, and giant posters featuring the model were a fixture in many German cities.
Hessler and Gadhafi's son dated for four years before the 36-year-old was killed, along with his father, on October 21 in Libya, two months after the leader was driven from power in the war-torn country and forced into hiding. Talks between Telefonica(the company) and Hessler's agency did not yield a solution because Hessler stood by her comments, said Fetsch. "We and our clients have no comprehension for what she said."
